(WORT) — Sara Goldrick-Rab has been a scholar of educational policy and sociology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison since 2004. She’s been an outspoken advocate for improving college access among low-income students, first-generation students, and students of color. In 2013, Goldrick-Rab founded the Wisconsin HOPE lab to develop policy interventions aimed at improving higher education access for underserved Wisconsin residents.
Earlier this week the tenured professor announced that she’ll be moving to Philadelphia in July to take up a position at Temple University. Goldrick-Rab speaks with WORT’s Darien Lamen about what led to that decision, UW’s tenure troubles, and the future of the Wisconsin Idea.
