Satya Rhodes-Conway is one of three candidates so far who hopes to replace Mayor Paul Soglin in next year’s mayor’s race. The mayoral election will be April 2, 2019, with a primary scheduled for February.
Soglin announced yesterday that he won’t be seeking another term after 22 combined years in the office. His most recent turn has lasted from 2011 until now, but Soglin was first elected in 1973.
Soglin gave a strong nod toward Rhodes-Conway over the other two candidates, Alder Mo Cheeks and former Alder Brenda Konkel, but says he won’t officially endorse her unless she asks for his endorsement.
Rhodes-Conway is a former alder for parts of the city’s east and north sides, from East High to Warner Park.
WORT producer Nina Kravinsky sat down with Rhodes-Conway to discuss her run.
