A new entertainment city outside of Riyadh is part of the Saudi Arabian government’s Vision 2030 plan announced by Deputy Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman a year ago.
The Vision 2030 reform program includes plans to transform the country’s austere reputation, reduce its dependence on oil and create jobs for young Saudis.
The 129 square mile entertainment city will have sports, cultural and recreational facilities, including a safari and a Six Flags theme park.
Six Flags began talks with the Saudi government last year and plans to build three parks in the country, including the Riyadh site.
Work will begin in early 2018 and the first stage should be finished by 2022.
