Last Saturday, the Young Gifted and Black Coalition took to the streets for the third time in as many weeks. The group has organized protests around Madison, in the wake of police killings of African Americans in Ferguson, Staten Island and Milwaukee. Not content with simply voicing outrage, the Coalition has a specific set of demands tailored specifically to Dane County:
- kill a proposed 8 million dollar study to determine the need for a new jail,
- use the money for investment in black communities and
- release of people incarcerated on poverty-related charges.
Monday Buzz host Brian Standing brings us this report from the streets.
