It’s long been the belief that humans have five senses: touch, sight, hearing, taste, and smell. But what if we told you there are more?
In her new book Sentient, wildlife filmmaker and writer Jackie Higgins uses examples from the animal kingdom to show how human sensory abilities can go far beyond what we’ve previously imagined. Today, she joins Friday host Esty Dinur and co-pilot Jonathan Zarov for a discussion.
Jackie Higgins is a graduate of Oxford University in zoology and has worked for Oxford Scientific Films for over a decade, along with National Geographic, PBS Nova, and the Discovery Channel. She has also written, directed, and produced films at the BBC Science Department. She is the author of Sentient: What Animals Reveal About Our Senses (Atria Books, 2022).
