If I leave my abusive relationship, what will happen to my dog?
Questions like this are familiar to volunteers with Sheltering Animals of Abuse Victims (SAAV), who visit the Access Hour to talk about their organization and role in the community. Guests include Megan Senatori, president and co-founder of SAAV; Meg Sohns, Crisis Intervention Manager of Domestic Abuse Intervention Services (DAIS); and Cheri Carr, Animal Control Officer for the city of Madison and Dane County Environmental Health.
SAAV is a volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to helping DAIS end the cycle of abuse within families by recognizing the importance of animals as vital family members and arranging for their safe harbor at vital times.
