If you were in New Glarus on Saturday, you may have heard the sounds of bells and yodels floating on the cold January air.
If you had followed those sounds to their origin, you likely would have been left with more questions than answers; as four men adorned in pine branches paraded through the small village, belting out Swiss yodels and ringing bells of various sizes to ward off evil spirits.
Silvesterchlausen is a traditional Swiss new year celebration, and on Saturday it came to Wisconsin.
