Kim Mahoney’s spent last year perfecting and building her home in Mount Pleasant, a village in rural Racine County. But now her house sits on what’s set to be the site of a new, 10 billion dollar LCD display factory.
She’s one of the last holdouts in a village attempt to buy the private land in the area for Foxconn, the Taiwanese tech manufacturing giant. Last night, the Mount Pleasant Community Development Authority crossed a key hurdle in declaring the area quote “blighted” — an important step in paving the way for eminent domain. WORT producer Nina Kravinsky spoke with Mahoney earlier today.
