The Delta Sigma Theta Madison Alumnae Chapter is celebrating their 100th birthday, and President Carola A. Gaines joined our sub host J.R. Sims on the Buzz to talk about the progress of the last 100 years.
Delta Sigma Theta was founded on January 13th, 1913 at Howard University by 22 founders with a vision for public service. In Madison alone, there are 70 chapters of Delta Sigma Theta.The organizations values are summed up in their Five Point Programmatic Thrust: Economic Development, Educational Development, International Awareness and Involvement, Physical and Mental Health, and Political Awareness and Involvement.
Their centennial coincides with the 51st Delta Sigma Theta National Convention in Washington DC., which 80,000 other Deltas will be attending.
