In 2010, an Enbridge pipeline spilled one million gallons of tar sands oil into the Kalamazoo River, a tributary of Lake Michigan. Dane County wants Enbridge to carry extra insurance in case of a similar disaster with the pipeline here; Enbridge has taken to the courts to remove this requirement.
