In a split show, host Esty Dinur speaks with two journalists about the recent refinery explosion in Superior, WI. What has developed since last week? Danielle Kaeding is a reporter at the Superior Bureau of Wisconsin Public Radio, and Jimmy Lovrien is a reporter for the Duluth News Tribune.
Then, she turns to the issue of journalist deaths around the world. Her guests are Marte Hoiby, a freelance journalist, journalist safety trainer, and PhD fellow at the Oslo Metropolitan University, Norway; and Saumava Mitra, a postdoctoral fellow in Media, Peace and Conflict Studies Department of the United Nations-mandated University for Peace. He has been a journalist in India for AP and Bloomberg, and in the Netherlands and Tanzania for Radio Netherlands. They recently co-wrote an opinion article, titled “Why we must pay attention to the death of journalists in Kabul,” for The Globe and Mail.
