Last week, the state Department of Natural Resources issued a new permit to Kinnard Farms in Kewaunee County saying that they must monitor the groundwater in the surrounding area for nitrate pollution.
The move is a win for Kewaunee County residents, who have fought the farm for almost a decade over groundwater pollution from the farm.
To learn more about the issue, and why local residents are celebrating, WORT Producer Nate Wegehaupt spoke with Tony Wilkin Gibart, the executive director of Midwest Environmental Advocates, a group that helped residents bring a lawsuit against the farm to protect their water.
