Roughly $440 million in federal pandemic relief funding went to supporting Wisconsin arts and cultural establishments over the past two years. During the pandemic, Wisconsin placed a greater emphasis than other states on using federal relief aid to support arts, culture, and tourism.
Still, though, it’s a one-time infusion of cash, and Wisconsin remains at the bottom of the list in a comparison of per-capita arts funding by state.
Those are some of many findings in “State of the Arts,” a new report from the Wisconsin Policy Forum that finds cautious optimism for arts and culture recovery across the state. We speak to senior researcher Joe Peterangelo in this edition of the 8 O’Clock Buzz.
