(WORT) — On Saturday, the Wisconsin Department of Justice raided the Lincoln Hills School for Boys in Irma. The raid was part of a secret John Doe criminal probe looking into sexual assault, physical abuse and child neglect at the Wisconsin juvenile detention center.
According to recently unsealed court records, Lincoln County Circuit Judge Robert Russell found that there was “reason to believe” crimes had been committed and authorities are also looking into whether laws were violated governing how state institutions are run.
As the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports, Correction Secretary Ed Wall announced this week that two top officials responsible for the facility had been removed from their positions.
