Over the past few weeks, we’ve brought you the stories of two businesses — Community Pharmacy and a Room of One’s Own Bookstore — who are being pushed out by a planned redevelopment at the corner of State and Gorham Street. But, Community Pharmacy and Room are just two of many businesses that are being pushed out of their spaces.
Both businesses’ relocation to the near east-side comes as Chicago-based real estate developer Core Spaces is eyeing the property for a large apartment building.
Earlier this week, WORT was contacted by a spokesperson from Core, who asked if we would be interested in hearing their perspective. In the interest of fairness and transparency, we agreed.
For more, our producer Jonah Chester spoke with Mark Goehausen, a Senior Development Manager with CORE Spaces.
For residents who want to weigh in on Core Spaces’ State Street project, there will be a virtual neighborhood meeting on Monday, April 19th at 7:00 PM.
