In tonight’s episode of the Perpetual Notion Machine, Lincoln Tice investigates the sustainability of hunting, and particularly as a source of food. One of his guests is Keith Warnke, Natural Resources Program Specialist at the WI DNR, who organizes the DNR’s hunting education classes. Lincoln’s other guest is Kelly Maynard, who has been hunting for only 5 years. She had worked with Keith in setting up and promoting the Learn to Hunt for Food course, but now works at the UW Center for Cooperatives and the UW Center for Integrated Agricultural Systems. She talks about her experiences as a hunter and what it means as a source of food. Keith also discusses the science that goes into their programming and management decisions regarding hunting and wildlife ecology.
