(WORT) — Election watchdog Mike McCabe finds the silver lining in the GOP bills making their way through the Wisconsin legislature this week.
(WORT) — Democrats are predicting a new era of rampant corruption if the GOP-backed bills are signed into law, but Republicans are defending their legislation as common sense reform.
Next week, the full Assembly will vote on legislation that limits the scope of secret John Doe investigations. The other two bills make significant changes to state election law and how ethics laws are enforced. As part of the reform package, the independent Government Accountability Board would be scraped for two commissions compromised of partisan appointees.
