In celebration of National Volunteer Week, April 10th-16th, the staff would like to thank the many volunteers, past and present who have generously contributed their time and talents in order to create and sustain this community radio station.
WORT is like a beehive, powered by over three hundred weekly volunteers who flow into and out of the station to create our amazing programming and maintain the functioning of the station. We estimate that our weekly volunteers contribute over 62,400 hours each year. Based on the value of a volunteer hour ($23.07 determined by the Corporation for National & Community Service) these volunteer hours are valued annually at more than $1,439,000!
In addition to our weekly volunteers, episodic volunteers fill hundreds of pledge phone shifts and assist with pledge folder processing during our three, two-week drives. Additional volunteers assist with outreach and fundraising events throughout the year, keeping us engaged with our community.
We also thank the numerous student volunteers and interns for their contributions to the station. WORT continues to be actively engaged with students and faculty at the UW-Madison, Edgewood College and Madison College. We thank “Students for WORT” for promoting the station and its volunteer and internship opportunities for students at the UW.
We thank our volunteer Board of Directors for their work dedicated to governance and fiscal management and for their participation on committees and projects.
Thanks to WORT’s Community Advisory Board whose members advise WORT’s Board of Directors as to how the station’s programming and policies address community needs.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you one and all!
We couldn’t do what we do without you AND we wouldn’t want to!
