In May of last year, Marty Rifkin of The Rifkin Group filed an application to rezone the Raemisch Farm area and develop 124 single-family lots and seven lots for future multi-family and mixed-use development. That kicked off a year-long process working with local community members in the area, which were concerned with how the project would affect the wildlife in the area, the nearby Lake View Elementary School, and the surrounding residents of the property. However, in the latest meeting of the Plan Commission on April 12th, the plan was rejected yet again after members of the Northside Planning Council Raemisch Farm Work Group vocalized concerns over preserving the natural landscape and resulting noise from nearby F-35 fighter jets. The plan will be brought again to the Plan Commission for review by May 19th to be brought up at a later meeting. Michelle Ellinger, a member of the Raemisch Farm Work Group discusses the local perspective of this development.
