“Are we asking for the impossible? Yes, we are. But it’s up to us now to do the impossible.” That’s Max Prestigiacomo, executive director of Youth Climate Action Team (YCAT), talking about how previous generations failed to address climate change—and how Gen Z wants to change all of that.
Today on the show, Allen hosts Max in the studio along with fellow YCAT organizer Stephanie Salgado and Tim Cordon, social justice coordinator at First Unitarian Society.
They spend the hour discussing the Global Climate Strike taking place tomorrow, Friday, September 20 in an estimated 150 countries. They offer information for tomorrow’s actions here in Madison and discuss the urgency of this youth movement, their goals and political demands for mitigating the climate crisis, and the role of mass mobilization in agitating for change.
