In March 2018, a series of protests called the Great March of Return took place at the Gaza Strip near the Gaza–Israel border. As we approach the anniversary of the march, we examine this momentous event with one of its founders, Ahmed Abu Artema, along with Jehad Abusalim.
“Who can refuse justice? Who can refuse human rights? Who can refuse peace?” Ahmed asks. “We cannot speak about peace without justice.”
Ahmed Abu Artema is a Palestinian journalist and peace activist. He is the author of the book Organized Chaos and one of the founders of the Great March of Return. He is a refugee from Al Ramla village in Palestine.
Jehad Abusalim is a scholar and policy analyst from Gaza currently studying at New York University.
