Many Black writers in Wisconsin have what Ali Muldrow calls “an unrequited love story” with their home state.
Today, Ali spends the hour with Dasha Kelly, the first Black woman to be named Wisconsin Poet Laureate, to celebrate the personal and political power of poetry and hear some live readings of Dasha’s work.
Dasha Kelly is a writer, artist, performer, social entrepreneur, and the poet laureate of Milwaukee and Wisconsin. She is the founder of Still Waters Collective, an arts education and community-building initiative.
