Carousel Bayrd speaks with the two candidates vying for Seat 1 on the Madison School Board, Gloria Reyes and Anna Moffit.
First she speaks with Peter Opitz, student leader at Middleton High School, about tomorrow’s walkout and rally against gun violence. Students from all four Madison high schools and other area high schools will be meeting at East High School at noon. They will march down East Washington to the State Capitol where there will then be a rally.
Gloria Reyes is deputy mayor for the City of Madison. She is also a former officer with the Madison Police Department, and founder of Amigos en Azul, a special unit dedicated to strengthening ties between Madison Police Officers and the Latino Community.
Anna Moffit currently holds Seat 1 on the Madison Board of Education. She ran unopposed for the seat in 2015. Moffit is a former teacher, and is particularly interested in supporting students with disabilities.
