The Democratic Party of Wisconsin has taken it on the chin for the past several election cycles. Since 2009, the Badger State Dems have lost 5 State Senate Seats, 17 Assembly Seats, and 3 gubernatorial elections. Perhaps most stunning, Wisconsin voted Republican in the 2016 Presidential election for the first time since the 1980s. As a result, the Democrats now are at their lowest ebb in the state legislature since the 1950’s. Heads have already rolled, with three-term Democratic Party chair Mike Tate stepping down in January of 2015. Tate’s successor, Martha Laning, is seeking another two-year term as chair, but she faces two challengers, who join us now in the studio. Bryan Kennedy is the Mayor of Glendale, Wisconsin. Eric Finch is a Madison Attorney. Both are running for Wisconsin Democratic Party Chair, and they both join 8 O’Clock Buzz host Brian Standing by phone.
