In a world awash in social media, news reports, 40-minute commutes on clogged freeways, and trying to get ahead in the capitalist consumerist rat race, who hasn’t harbored a fantasy of chucking it all in and retreating to a few acres to a life of bucolic splendor on a farm? But is the simple life really that simple?
In his new book, “The Unsettlers,” Los Angeles native Mark Sundeen travels to Missouri, Montana and Detroit to meet back-to-the-landers of different stripes , backgrounds and philosophies. Along the way, he also confronts his own dreams and misconceptions about life on a farm.
Mark Sundeen joins Eight O’Clock Buzz host Brian Standing by phone.
