Join marimbist-composer Nathaniel Bartlett to experience his latest musical endeavors and celebrate the release of his 5th album, “timeSpacePlace”.
Performances will include new music for marimba with real-time, three-dimensional, high-definition, computer-generated sound and real-time computer notation processing with guest artist Geoff Brady on theremin.
Also featured will be performances with Bartlett’s newly-developed video-computer interactive interface directed by Dr. Stephen Dembski, UW School of Music.
Bartlett will perform an incredible piece for solo marimba from the modern marimba repertoire, “Dances of Earth and Fire” by Peter Klatzow.

The Gialamas Company presents the Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestra in concert.
On Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at 7pm, WYSO’s Youth Orchestra will perform for a crowd of thousands at Concert in the Park, sponsored by the Gialamas Company.
This free event at Old Sauk Trails Park has become a favorite summer tradition for families and music lovers of all ages, and will once again feature great pre-concert activities in addition to the excellent performance by WYSO’s young musicians. Guests are welcome to bring lawn chairs and blankets, set up a picnic dinner, enjoy the “Ultimate Ice Cream Social,” and try out a bassoon or violin at the Instrument Petting Zoo table.
Led by conductor Jim Smith, Youth Orchestra will perform a fantastic selection of repertoire including:
- Overture to Die Fledermaus – Johann Strauss Jr.
- Suite from the Opera Carmen – Georges Bizet
- Concerto for Oboe and Orchestra – Franz Joseph Haydn
- Symphony No. 2, “Antar” – Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov
