Psychologists increasingly agree that a traumatic childhood influences adult’s lives and behavior. As a result, trauma-informed care has rapidly become the standard protocol in Wisconsin for institutions responsible for troubled youth. But as the state criminal justice system tries to generate more positive results, does traditional security suffer? State correctional worker unions blame recent incidents of abuse at Lincoln Hills and Copper Lake facilities to overly lax security as a result of an over-reliance on trauma informed care.
