On April 18th’s Musica Antiqua, Trevor Stephenson shared music from Madison Bach Musicians‘ (MBM) April 24 concert, A Baroque Tour: Masterpieces from 17th and 18th century Italy, Spain, England, France, and Germany. Trevor, MBM’s artistic director, will preview the concert with host Carol Moseson in the 10 o’clock hour of the show. You will hear music by Handel, Vivaldi, Buxtehude, and Falconieri and pick up fun facts about trio sonatas, musical trends of the day, and the composers’ lives.
Sunday’s program also celebrates spring with music from medieval Germany and France. And, because Chaucer dubbed April the time for pilgrimages, there’s music associated with medieval shrines in Spain and the Holy Land. Expect a few sparkling arias too–Handel’s Alcina debuted a mere 286 years and two days ago.
