Fierce. Free spirited. Larger than life. Chrissy Bocan, aka “Predator.” The world lost this beautifully formidable force on November 1st, leaving behind a colossal treasure trove of remarkable memories and extraordinary stories. Chrissy had moved from Madison to be near her family back in Pennsylvania, and on the night of Oct. 31st was fatally injured in a crash while riding her beloved motorcyle. WORT will celebrate her adventurous life and love for music on Friday, November 19 with a special edition of Real Jaguar’s “Who Cooks For You?” from 2-4:30 PM (central.)
A devout music enthusiast, Chrissy hosted WORT’s Friday afternoon eclectic rock show from 2006-2007, calling it “Get To The Chopper” from a famous line in the film Predator. That was her DJ name and the persona many knew and loved as a member of the Quad Squad roller derby team, and she was one of the founders of Madison’s flat track league The Mad Rollin’ Dolls. Chrissy was also known to many music fans as an original employee of the High Noon Saloon and she worked behind the bar at many a show for years.
Help celebrate the rich and no-holds-barred life of our friend Chrissy Bocan and tune in on November 19th, 2-4:30 PM. Friends and family are invited to call our listener line at 608-321-9594 before Friday to leave messages, memories and anecdotes about Chrissy, and these recordings will be aired during the show. We’ll also have call-ins by special guests and of course, a whole lot of the tunes she loved; from twang to rock, psychobilly to punk, country classics and banging riffs, all were part of her favorite kinds of music.
You can read her obituary here. A public celebration of Chrissy’s life is planned for Sunday, December 5 at the High Noon Saloon. Check the event for updated information.
