This afternoon is a Vigil Against the Drones at Volk Field. This is a legal vigil on public property. Meet at 3pm for introductions and to review the plan for the vigil, then process together to the gates of the base for a solemn, one-hour vigil to remember those killed by drones. Today, the Department of Medical History and Bioethics presents Peter Redfield, Ph.D., Professor of Anthropology, University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, lecturing on “Small Dreams and Magic Bullets: From Infrastructure to Humanitarian Design.” A leading expert on medical humanitarianism, Redfield will discuss recent efforts to respond to conditions of disaster and endemic poverty with innovative objects and small-scale designs.
