US Representative Mark Pocan is drafting legislation that would abolish the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, or ICE.
The agency has come under fire since reports of family separations at the southern border began dominating headlines. Lawmakers created ICE in 2002 with bipartisan support.
Now, some lawmakers and advocates are calling for it to be dissolved completely.
