The 2022 midterm elections are coming up, including the race for the Wisconsin U.S. Senate seat currently held by Ron Johnson. There are eight candidates with ballot access in the Democratic primary and two candidates (including the incumbent) with ballot access in the Republican primary, both of which will be held on Tuesday, August 9.
For today’s Meet the Candidates show, WORT news director wraps up our coverage of this race by speaking to Kou Lee and Steven Olikara, two of the candidates running in the Democratic primary.
Kou Lee is a small business owner and member of the Lao community in Wisconsin. Some of his political priorities include education, technology and cybersecurity, and renewable energy.
Steven Olikara is an entrepreneur and son of Indian immigrants in Wisconsin. Previously, he founded and served as CEO of the Millennial Action Project (MAP), an organization for young policymakers. Some of his political priorities include getting money out of politics, working across the aisle to represent the “exhausted majority,” and enacting term limits for members of Congress.
