Vets on Frets is a band formed from the non-profit Guitars for Vets, which has been sharing the healing power of music by providing free guitar lessons to veterans since 2007. Vets on Frets consists of 6 guitarists including 2 Guitars for Vets instructors and 3 graduates of the program.
Performing for almost a decade their repertoire includes 60s and 70s rock, folk, as well as country and western, and they’ve recently started writing their own songs.
Member of Vets on Frets, Dan Proud, has been playing and writing music since the 1960s, is an instructor for Guitars for Vets and wrote the music to their recent song, “Swept Away”. Dan joins Friday Buzz host Jonathan Zarov to talk about Guitars for Vets, Vets on Frets, and “Swept Away”.
