FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Who can be a candidate?
Participating Member (Volunteers): Anyone who has volunteered at least five hours of authorized work in each of three consecutive months between October 1, 2016 and March 31, 2017.
Supporting Member (Listener Sponsors): Anyone who has made at least an annual, basic ($40) listener-sponsorship level contribution to WORT in the 12 months prior to the application deadline.
Who can vote?
Participating members (volunteers) are eligible to vote for Board members.
From the station’s bylaws:
A participating member of WORT shall be any person who has voluntarily performed at least five (5) hours of work in each of three (3) consecutive months within the period bounded by October 1st of the previous year through March 31st of the current year).
A certified list of eligible voters is posted at the station.
When can I vote?
Ballots will be available at the station beginning June 5th.
How can I vote?
Participating members can vote by ballot available at the station from staff or at the annual meeting on June 25th.
Rather than electing members to specific term lengths, the current Board of Directors voted at their May meeting to change the election process. You will now vote for the total number of available seats (5 volunteers and 3 listener sponsors). The new Board members will decide their individual term lengths at their next Board meeting.
All Board seats are for 3 years, though some seats are being filled midterm due to the resignation of the Board member. This has left several “short term” seats available.
When will the new Board members be seated?
Ballots will be counted at the station’s annual meeting on June 25th. The new Board will be seated immediately following this meeting.
