Monday host Patty Peltekos talks about all kinds of water resource issues on this edition of a Public Affair. First, she gives an overview of two September 15th public hearings by the DNR: one in Green Bay discussing proposed changes to state law regarding agricultural runoff onto a type of soil called karst; the other in the Village of Albany on the Sugar River dealing with a Wisconsin Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (WPDES) Permit for Pinnacle Dairy.
Then, Patty discusses salmon issues with her guest Nic Mink, President and Chief Salmon Steward of Sitka Salmon Shares, a regional community supported fishery that works directly with fishermen in Alaska. Of particular concern is an accidental “spill” of Atlantic salmon in Pacific waters, potentially threatening populations of Pacific salmon.
