Founded as a non-profit, non-partisan news gathering organization in 2009, the Wisconsin Center for Investigative Journalism has been a mainstay for democracy and freedom of information for over 10 years now. Since its start, the Center has published more than 300 major news reports that have appeared in over 600 news publications around the state and country. Among its most notable reporting, the Center won several awards for the “Failure at the Faucet” reporting series, which reported on the elevated blood levels of lead in children due to poisoned drinking water.
