Who can file an open record request, and when can government officials deny a request? Our host for the hour, Dylan Brogan talks with experts to unpack the policies around open records in Wisconsin.
Our first guest of the hour is Amanda St. Hilaire. Amanda is a journalist with Fox6 and earlier this year she had a series of record requests denied by Governor Evers’s office.
Attorney Tom Kamenick joins us for the second part of the show. Tom represented Fox6; he filed a lawsuit and that result in a request approval of just one day’s worth of emails. Tom is also founder the Wisconsin Transparency Project.
We are also joined by Bill Lueders who is the president of the Wisconsin Freedom of Information Council. Bill is also the editor of The Progressive magazine.
