Today’s pledge drive edition features Carousel’s interview with Margaret Hagerman, author of White Kids: Growing Up with Privilege in a Racially Divided America.
Margaret Hagerman is an assistant professor of sociology at Mississippi State University, where she also serves as affiliate faculty in the African American studies program and the gender studies program. Her research focuses on racial socialization, or how kids learn about race, racism, and racial inequality in the contexts of their families and communities. She is the author of White Kids: Growing Up with Privilege in a Racially Divided America (NYU Press, 2018).
