Last week, Labor Radio reported that the union representing workers at Willy Street Co-Op, the United Electrical, Radio, and Machine Workers of America, the UE, Local 1186, had reached a tentative agreement on a new contract. On Monday of this week, members voted to approve that contract. Mike Tomaloff, president of Local 1186, spoke to Labor Radio on Tuesday, the day after the contract was approved by its members.
Tomaloff provided details on the contract.
Those wage increases were significant, says Tomaloff.
Tomaloff credits rank-and-file participation and solidarity for the contract that was gained.
