Back in September, the workers of Willy Street Co-op voted overwhelmingly to unionize, joining the United Electrical, Radio and Machine Workers of America and forming UE Local 1186.
On this episode, we hear from Willy Street workers and union bargaining team members Thayer Reed and Demi Brock-Montgomery about the collective bargaining process and labor conditions at the co-op. In response to a slew of listener callers, they discuss the importance of unions, the struggle for a fair attendance policy, resisting the increasing corporatization of the co-op, and how co-op owners and members can support workers.
