Today, in response to the Kenosha Police shooting of Jacob Blake, Governor Tony Evers and Lt. Governor Mandela Barnes called a special session of the legislature to take up bills on police reform next week.
These bills have been proposed before: in the spring and summer, by the Wisconsin Legislative Black Caucus. This afternoon, Representative LaKeshia Myers, a Democrat representing Milwaukee and chairperson of the Legislative Black Caucus, told WORT producer Jonah Chester she doesn’t have high hopes for the special session.
