A new report from the Prison Policy Initiative — a criminal justice reform think tank — has given Wisconsin an “F” for its response to COVID in prisons. The report compares how different states have handled COVID-19 amongst incarcerated folks.
11,000 incarcerated Wisconsinites have tested positive for COVID since last March. That’s more than half of the state’s incarcerated population.
For more, our producer Jonah Chester spoke with Wanda Bertram and Emily Widra. Bertram is the Prison Policy Initiative’s Communications Strategist, and Widra is its COVID-19 Research Lead.
