Wisconsin’s Black Legislative Caucus is pushing for Governor Evers to call a special session to address several pieces of legislation that would reform the state’s police forces. The caucus wants Evers to hold the session tomorrow, June 19th.
June 19th, also known as Juneteenth, is the annual celebration of the freeing of the last of America’s slaves. According to Black Caucus Chair Lakeshia Myers, of Milwaukee, the date of the session was not a coincidence.
Earlier today, WORT Producer Jonah Chester spoke with Representative Myers to discuss what the caucus hopes to accomplish if the session is called.
