Let’s talk about Foxconn.
Last week the Wisconsin Assembly passed the Foxconn bill, which includes a massive 3 billion dollar tax break to the Taiwanese company. The bill is currently being discussed in the state Senate’s Joint Finance Committee.
First up, Representative Dianne Hesselbein of Middleton starts off the program with a recap of last week’s assembly vote. Hesselbein voted against the bill. Democrats asked for 22 amendments to the bill, all of which were rejected on party line votes. The bill was passed on a 59-30 vote. Two Republicans and 28 Democrats voted against it. Critics of the bill are concerned over the cost for taxpayers and the environmental impact the company will have.
Wisconsin Senate Minority Leader Jennifer Shilling and Wisconsin Senator Lena Taylor join to discuss their opposition to the Foxconn deal and what happens next in the Senate.
