Wisconsin is one of only eleven states in the nation without a strategy to immunize its prison population against COVID-19, according to a new analysis by the Prison Policy Initiative, a nonprofit criminal justice thinktank.
But, even in states where there are immunization policies for incarcerated people, the guidance is often vague and unclear. That ambiguity could prove deadly, as the nation’s carceral system continues to struggle with rampant COVID-19 outbreaks.
