La Fete de Marquette is always a great party, and now everyone can join in! If you can’t camp out in Central Park all weekend, you can still catch some of the music as it’s being broadcast live on WORT.
On Friday, we’re there from 7:30 till 11 pm with the Cambodia-meets-California surf of DENGUE FEVER, followed by New Orleans’ own RAW OYSTER CULT, with members of The Radiators plus special guest keyboardist John Gros of HBO’s Treme.
Saturday afternoon we join the fest at 3:15 as NATHAN & THE ZYDECO CHA CHAs play traditional Cajun music from the Bayou. Then it’s double female trouble as the SHANNON MCNALLY BAND featuring CINDY CASHDOLLAR brings dueling guitars and special guest John Gros to the stage.
Sunday’s broadcast starts at 4 with HK et LES SALTIMBANKS and their lively mix of French Algerian music, politics and comedy. We finish off with EMELINE MICHEL, “The Diva of Haiti” whose set ranges from jazz to samba to blues, all with a Creole flair.
Again, we bring you music from La Fete de Marquette this weekend only, and all regular programming resumes next week [many thanks to the program hosts who let us take some of their regular show times to do this!] You can listen to the live remote on WORT 89.9 FM/HD or online at http://www.wortfm.org. Brought to you by the dedicated volunteers and listener sponsors of community radio and live, local music events!!
