Tickets to the Tribute to Bill Malone at the Stoughton Opera House are SOLD OUT! Thank you for your support!!
Hard tickets have been mailed to anyone who has already secured a ticket. We’re sorry, but at this point nobody at the station or at Stoughton Opera House can provide tickets to those who didn’t already pledge for them or order them online from SOH before they sold out.
WORT Honors Back to the Country Host Bill Malone, September 15th at the Stoughton Opera House.
Bill Malone, the host of Back to the Country, is regarded as the leading historian of country music. He’s literally written the book on it (Country Music USA).
Doug Moe once said that having Bill Malone host a community radio show is like having Meryl Streep perform community theater.
Bill turns 85 this August. In addition to hosting his weekly show, Back to the Country, he has spent the last couple of years working with Ken Burns and his crew on the new multi-part documentary, Country Music. He is the only historian Ken used for the series!
Join us for an intimate evening with Bill (and Bobbie) Malone at the Stoughton Opera House on Sunday, September 15th, 5:30 PM. Hear about Bill’s experience working with Ken Burns and other highlights from his life; enjoy live music from Chris Plata with Extra Hot as well as from members of The Dirty Shirts.
The restored 1901 Stoughton Opera House is the perfect venue for a show that pays tribute to Bill’s lifelong contributions to country music. It’s a jewel box setting with fantastic acoustics.
Following this event, attendees can remain for a big screen showing of the first episode of Burns’ Country Music documentary, featuring Bill Malone. If there are still seats available for the screening, they will be offered for free.
If you didn’t pledge for your tickets during the WORT Summer Pledge Drive and you’re a member of the Stoughton Opera House, you can purchase your tickets starting at 9 am Monday, August 5th. If you’re not a member of SOH, you can pick up tickets starting at 9 am on Monday, August 19th.
In addition to honoring Bill and his contributions to country music, tickets sales from this event benefit WORT.
