David Cooper Quartet, Frederic March Play Circle, 7:30 PM, Free!
David Cooper is one of the most versatile trumpet players in the Midwest, having performed with the Madison Symphony Orchestra, the Isthmus Brass and the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra. His latest CD The Journey was recorded while Cooper was undergoing treatments for lung cancer and takes it’s name and inspiration from his struggle with the disease. Cooper and his quartet kick off the InDIGenous Jazz Series in the Wisconsin Union Theater.
Steve Gillette & Cindy Mangsen with Lou & Peter Barryman at the Brink Lounge, 7PM
Steve Gillette & Cindy Mangsen have performed together for 25 years, bringing their soaring harmonies and love of traditional folk to audiences all over the country. Steve has penned songs for the likes of Garth Brooks, Linda Rondstadt and Tammy Wynette and blends his unique guitar picking style with Cindy’s banjo and concertina. Lou and Peter Berryman need little introduction to Madison audiences, having played their brand of quirky folk around town since the 70’s.
