WORT is pleased to announce the hire of Shaun Soman as Assistant News Director.
Shaun has produced the WORT local news since October. They are also no stranger to the music and talk departments. Shaun is a contributor to Wednesday evening LGBTQ+ show Queery, and a former host of Another Green World on Tuesday mornings.
Shaun is a graduate of Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia, where they majored in philosophy, served as co-music director of college radio WLUR 91.5, and contributed to various undergraduate journals.
Shaun is a former deejay on UW-Madison’s college radio station WSUM, and they are a contributor to local arts, news and culture outlet Tone Madison. They have their own podcast titled Record Store Dropouts. They’ve previously worked in the offices of the southern Wisconsin weekly The Pecatonica Valley Leader.
Shaun has headed up production of WORT’s Local News at 6pm since October 2019 and will continue to do so until Spring 2020. They are also responsible for a majority of our social media postings.
