Late into the night last Tuesday, one female Senator took a stand against a controversial bill before the Texas state legislature. She literally stood up on the floor of the Texas Senate and spoke against and anti-abortion bill for nearly 13 hours. Her name is Wendy Davis and she succeeded in stopping the bill from passing.
The State Capitol was filled with thousands of protesters who gathered in support of Wendy Davis. After the Lieutenant Governor moved to stop Davis from speaking, the crowd took over and cheered so loudly, they prevented a vote on the bill before the midnight deadline.
All of this was watched by nearly 200,000 people on the internet, but was not captured or reported by any of the major cable networks.
Joining the Buzz today to discuss the changing nature of breaking news coverage was Ian Murphy, Editor-in-Chief of the online newspaper, The Buffalo Beast.
